The Biblical Archaeology Institute

The Biblical Archaeology Institute (BAI) is non-profit organization committed to enhancing the global community's connection to biblical history and archaeology.  Our mission is to document and preserve information and photographs of tens of thousands of archaeological artifacts from various periods, discovered in Israel, Jordan, and neighboring regions, and to support related research publications.

These artifacts have been unearthed by archaeological expeditions since the early 20th century, during the Ottoman era, the British Mandate, and the years following the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948. They are housed in museums and university collections across Europe, North America, Jordan, and Israel—including the Israel Antiquities Authority, universities, and museums in Israel—as well as in numerous private collections worldwide.

Our forthcoming online platform will grant researchers and enthusiasts one-click access to comprehensive data on Israel's material culture over the past 7,000 years. This resource will feature visual and written records of various artifacts, including cultic objects, inscriptions, domestic vessels, oil lamps, jewelry, seals, weapons, burial coffins and ossuaries, and more. By offering a holistic view of the diverse cultures that have thrived in Israel, we aim to facilitate a deeper understanding of various biblical narratives.
